Artists move onto a plan once they are up and running; an active plan is what keeps a profile visible in browse and search. A profile page stays public and indexed either way, so it keeps working as a resume. Venues and promoters pay nothing at any point.
The ones people actually ask.
Why do I need an account just to browse?
Because the roster is the thing artists pay to be in. Putting it behind a confirmed email keeps out scrapers building cold-outreach lists, and means every person who contacts an artist is a real, traceable account. It is the difference between a directory and a phone book.
Do you take a cut of my fee?
No, and there is no mechanism for it. Gio never holds or moves booking money - no deposits, no escrow, no payouts. You and the venue settle directly by whatever means you agree. The subscription is the only thing Gio charges, and it is charged to artists, never to bookers.
Is my profile public or hidden?
Public, on purpose. Your profile page stays live and indexed by search engines, so it works as a standalone resume you can link from Instagram whether or not anyone books through Gio. What is gated is the directory - nobody can enumerate the roster without an account, but your own page is yours to share.
What does vetted actually mean?
Before an artist can take a booking we confirm they are a working performer - real mixes, real history, a real person behind the account. It is a human check, not a badge you buy.
What happens if someone does not show up?
No-shows are recorded against the account, on both sides of the marketplace. Two and the account is suspended. With no money held in the middle, that record is the trust mechanism - which is why it is enforced strictly.
